History edit

Altex was founded in 1992, at the Piatra Neamț, in Neamț County by Dan Ostahie. One of the most popular entrepreneurs in Romania, he received a US$10.000 debt from a bank to start importing second-hand television sets from Switzerland. These were repaired and then sold to consignments which were also selling clothes and household products. Ostahie opened the first store in 1993 with household appliances in Altex's network.

Altex continued to develop their network of stores throughout the 1990s, opening more than 50 stores, in all important cities from the country.

In 2000, appears Altex's group, after that Dan Ostahie decided to externalise services. Altex's group included then network of stores, company of logistics and transport 8TIM and company of wholesale distributor Italromtex.
