State Route 247 (SR 247) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California in San Bernardino County.
This route is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System[2] and is eligible for the State Scenic Highway System.[3]
Route description
SR 247 begins in Yucca Valley where it is signed as "Old Woman Springs Road." From Yucca Valley, the two-lane highway heads northwestward along a great deal of its length toward Lucerne Valley, briefly passing by the southern tip of Landers.
From Lucerne Valley and its meeting with State Route 18, Old Woman Springs Road ends and the highway turns due north on Barstow Road toward its northern terminus at Main Street in Barstow, a short distance north of Interstate 15.
History
Route 247 was heavily damaged in the Landers Earthquake of 1992 and was closed for quite some time until repairs could be made.
Major intersections
Except where prefixed with a letter, postmiles were measured on the road as it was in 1964, and do not necessarily reflect current mileage. R reflects a realignment in the route since then. The entire route is in San Bernardino County.
