Beryl Platt, Baroness Platt of Writtle
Beryl Platt, Baroness Platt of Writtle (born 18 April 1923) is a British Conservative politician and member of the House of Lords.
Platt served as a member of Chelmsford Rural District Council between 1958 and 1973 and of Essex County Council between 1965 and 1986. She was vice-chair of the latter body between 1980 and 1983, and has been an honorary alderman since 2005 as well as a deputy lieutenant for the county since 1983.
Platt was created a life peer in 1981. From 1992 to 2000 she was Chancellor of Middlesex University.
