African Bird Club
The African Bird Club (ABC) is a United Kingdom registered ornithological charity established in 1992. Its area of interest covers continental Africa, Indian Ocean islands west of 80° East, (e.g. Madagascar, the Mascarenes and Socotra), and Atlantic Ocean islands on or east of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (e.g. the Tristan de Cunha group, the Azores and the Canaries.[1] It aims to:
- provide an international focus on African ornithology
- raise money to support African conservation projects
- encourage interest in bird conservation in the region
- liaise with and promote existing regional societies
- publish a twice-yearly colour magazine, the Bulletin of the African Bird Club
- encourage people to visit less well-known areas of the region, and search for threatened and near-threatened species[1]
