Add Some Music to Your Day
"Add Some Music to Your Day" is a song written by Brian Wilson, Joe Knott and Mike Love for the American rock band The Beach Boys. It was first released as a single in February 1970. While making no impact overseas at all -- unusually for the Beach Boys -- early US orders were said to be at near-record levels for Warners and the song quickly entered top thirties in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Salt Lake City, and climbed well into the top twenties of St Louis and Orlando. There it stopped, stalling nationally at #39 in Record World, #49 Cash Box and #64 in Billboard; #43 Canada. What might have been a prime peace anthem was then released on the band's 1970 album Sunflower.
Composer credit
According the liner notes of the 2000 re-issue of the Sunflower album, Joe Knott was not a professional songwriter. In the liner notes, Brian Wilson said of the song, "It was written by me and Mike and Joe Knott, who was a friend of mine who wasn't a songwriter but he contributed a couple of lines. But I can't remember which ones!".
