The 4D8 Cube is a variation of the Rubik's Cube puzzle. Its shape is derived from a stellated octahedron, but the tips of the vertices are truncated to form small triangles. The faces of this shape are colored with eight different colors, and in the starting position all faces that point in the same direction have the same color. The goal of the puzzle is to twist the pieces of the puzzle to restore it to its starting position from some other position. The 4D8 Cube may be arranged to form 264 million possible combinations.

History

The 4D8 Cube was invented in 2001 by Heinz Molidor, an Austrian engineer. It was presented in 2009 at the Nuremberg Toy Fair and in 2010 on Bavarian Radio.[1]
